The Barn

Just a short drive from Balnarring’s town centre, The Barn benefits from a sense of seclusion created by the extended driveway. The site spans over 16 hectares with Tulum Creek dividing it into two parts.

 

Designed and built by Heidi Build, the mudbrick barn restoration was a labour of love. Featuring custom timber joinery and concrete benchtops, brushed brass tapware and venetian plaster walls, these new materials both contrast against and compliment the existing red brick, stonework and timber trusses. Expansive 3-meter wide timber-framed, double-glazed windows were built onsite allowing natural light to fill the dark space. A custom 350kg timber-framed, double-glazed sliding door connects the interior with the exterior allowing more natural light to flood the space. A hard-wearing burnished concrete topping slab was poured, which will age well over time.

 

The barn showcases the unique skills housed within the team at Heidi Build, to design, and build a bespoke outcome — a true celebration of craftsmanship.
